I had the same problem, just after I have installed NETBUI and IPX for home networking. I uninstalled both and my problem is solved. Hope it will help.

I've had a machine on my repair bench for two days now and the only good solution I can come up with that will cause my customer less frustration is to simply uninstall NSW2001. The best professional guess I have is that this is a bug with NSW that can only be fixed by installing a newer version. True, this is something that Norton should fix but if someone can get a response out of them and a fix, PLEASE let us all know how you did it. :-) Sorry I can't be more help. Have a good day!

Leave it to Microsoft to talk a lot but not say much when it comes to the "blue screen errors". I get the BFF7 error too, but only intermittently, and I don't think it has anything to do with Norton System Works because I haven't got that package installed (while I do have Norton Utilities running, the only component of it that I run consistently is the Norton Protected Recycle Bin--my printer and Zip disk drivers together don't get along well with Norton System Doctor). It would be nice if Microsoft and/or Symantec could post something on their respective web sites to indicate what this "BFF7" error is and what it means. Every time I try to look up the error code on the web, this forum is the only thing that comes up. I think we've been kept in the dark about this long enough. Of course, perhaps either company is aware of the problem and hasn't come up with a solution yet. In the meantime, I just reboot my system, either warm or cold, until Windows starts up again normally, and as a last resort I even start up the system in safe mode and then reboot in standard mode. That usually clears the problem up for a while.

I got it for awhile too, then it went away, now it's back. I *think* that it may be related to the Norton System Works 2000 that I installed. That is the only real difference between the installations I did. I did one install with, kept getting the blasted errors, then I reinstalled and placed Norton AV 2002 on it. and everything was fine for nearly a year. I just reinstalled and placed NSW back on and badda-bing! bloody error reappears.Everything else is the same - updated video drivers, WinME updates, MSIE 6, etc. I'm putting my money on NSW.
