Too many times, I see individuals on this board reinstall an OS when the tough get rough. This would most likely still result in the same error message. The problem is associated with your video card. I am quite convinced that this video card performs well...in between blue screens.
I would attempt to locate a newer driver version on their website. You can also 'tweak' the settings to something a bit lower. There might be different combinations of fixes available with changing your memory settings or registry settings, but I would not recommend it.
Also, there are some individuals that have created tweak programs and rogue drivers for this card. You may try one of their drivers/programs to see if you can get the card working properly.
If all else fails, change your screen resolution size and/or color depth as a test. There may be some unstable combinations.
This error will not occur in Windows XP or 2000. Your games are compatible with both OSs.
Please feel free to post back after you have tried my suggestions. I can give you a few registry edit suggestions, but I do not want to do this, only as a last resort.
