I've got a Sony laptop running XP Home Edition. I get a black screen error saying "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\system32\hal.dll" This error appears directly after the Sony logo. No XP welcome screen comes up.Am I going to have to restore the OS, or is there a way to just extract and install this file?
