I have similar problems which seem to stem from Q278558, partially pasted below. There is a hotfix which Microsoft wants money before they are willing to give out. I am disabled and don't have the money right now. Does anybody already have the hotfix? Maybe it would solve your issue also?Miles Webster

SYMPTOMS
You may experience any of the following problems that are caused by authentication problems in your logon session:
When you open and then try to save a file in WordPad to a mapped drive, you receive the following error message:
Message: drive:\ is not accessible
Access is denied.
When you open and then try to save a file in Microsoft Word 2000 to a mapped drive, you may receive the following error message:
Message: Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full or write-protected.
Try one of more of the following:
* Free more memory.
* Make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged.
drive:\filename
When you right-click a mapped drive in My Computer, and then click Open, you may receive the following error message:
Message: drive:\ is not accessible
When you type dir mapped_drive_letter at a command prompt, you may receive the following error message:
Volume in drive mapped_drive_letter has no label
Access denied
When you type dir \\servername\mapped_share_name at a command prompt, you may receive the following error message:
Access denied
If you disconnect the drive share and then attempt to reconnect, the following error message may be displayed:
Enter Network Password
You must supply a password to make this connection.
Resource: \\servername\sharename
