Fatal exception OE Post a Reply
From: Ronald on 09/07/2002
I am running Web TV for Windows on a Voodoo card and I keep getting the following error message:
A fatal exception OE has accurred at 0028:fa130141.
Can anybody tell me what it means and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Ron
If you have the time you can email me at rrd663@gmx.net, but I will keep checking this site just incase an answer is posted. It is a nuisance but I know it will go away if I reinstall my ghost, but it always comes back eventually. I have also run into a VXD error doing the same thing.

The VCACHE memory address is VERY similar to defective RAM. I am really dissapointed as I am a fan of Dell computers. I would really be upset that this was the issue you were having.

However, I would try this first. If you have 256mb of RAM (I think Dell should have this installed with any recent computer purchase), then you can pull one of the chips out and try running on the other one. If you only have one chip, this is not an option. You might consider borrowing someone else's memory or taking the memory in to be tested. Just about any electronic store that sells PC parts should be able to test the memory for you.

The next item on my troubleshooting list would be the video card. What tweaks were made? Did you just download a newer driver? I am slightly in a loss with this issue because I would imagine that you would probably be getting more error messages with your recent game addition.

Another possiblitiy is your Modem. I know this sounds weird but it is a possibility that the registry settings are not correct for your modem. Are you using it? It sounds like you might have networked yourself to a highspeed internet connection. If that is the case, try uninstalling your modem (physically remove it from your box).

I would start with this.

I am very sorry to hear of your condition. I do hope that things work out for you and you start to feel better. I definitely am not dissapointed in your response time so please take your time. However, if you want to get my attention right away, you might try a new post letting me know who you are. I sometimes miss the older 'post backs'. I will make a point to check your progress.

: There was not enough information and the information you provided, is unrecognizable by myself.

: I would suggest normal troubleshooting: Recent hardware additions, recent software additions/changes, SFC, etc.

: You identified a VxD error. I would be interested in learning the details of this error. This might assist us a little more with pin-pointing the program causing the problems.

: Also, it would help to know what you are doing when you get the error message and what Ghost has to do with the problem. If you are not getting the error message when Ghost is installed, then you might consider reinstalling it and uninstalling it again. Perhaps you did not do a proper uninstall through the control panel???

: Hope this gets you thinking. Feel free to post back with questions.

The entire error message reads "a fatal exception OE has accurred at 0028:C004E733 in VXD Vcache (01)+ 00000BA3. I am running a Dell Dimension XPS T450 with the last Voodoo card they made before they went out of business. The error occurs when I turn off Web TV for Windows or Winamp3 while the visualization studio was running. It doesn't happen all the time now that I set my computer to work as a network, but if I run either program for long it will still blue screen me. The only thing that I have added to this computer in a while is a game called Silent Hunter II which requires Quick time. The program was not showing the graphics properly when I first installed it but with a little juggling of the required drivers I got Silent Hunter II working properly. However that is about the same time that I started receiving the Blue screens. And that is about all I can tell you about the situation.
Forgive me for not responding sooner but I have cancer and have been having a bad couple of weeks. Thanks for the imput.
