Win ME: Word 2000 freezes when trying to open; press ctrl-alt-del and get error "system resources are dangerously low, close application... winword not responding" something like that, then have to reboot system to unfreeze. checked system resources and sitting at about 90% free so that is not the problem. Have uninstalled and re-installed Word 2000 a bunch of times but no solution yet. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had similar problems with Word 2000 crashing my computer, and thanks to your site the problem was fixed by renaming normal.dot I'm most grateful.I am 90% certain that the cause of the crash was opening an rtf file, which as far as I can remember was created by Word97. Has anyone else had similar experiences? (The file was part of a help system and had several links to other files.)
