Click Start and click Run. In the Open box, type Msconfig and click OK. Under the General tab, click Extract File. Type Winmm.dll in the Extract One File From Installation Disk dialog box and click Start. In the Restore From box, type drive:\win9x, substituting the letter assigned to your CD Drive for the word drive - D:\win9x, for example.
If your computer came with Windows Me installed, the files might be on the hard drive rather than on CD. The most likely locations, assuming Windows is installed on the C:\ drive, are C:\Windows\Options\Cabs and C:\Windows\Options\Install.
In the Save File In box, type C:\Windows\System and click OK. In the Backup File box, record the location of the backup folder and then click OK.
It Windows tells you the backup folder doesn't exist and asks if you want to create it, click Yes. The WINMM.dll file is extracted. In System Configuration Utility, click OK and then click Yes to restart your computer.
