Hi RachelTry starting Windows in safe mode and then run scandisk.Reboot in normal mode and see if it helps,it can't do any harm.
To get into safe mode hold down the conrol key then boot up.When you see the menu let go of the control key and choose safe mode.Your computer will look a bit odd because in safe mode it only loads the minimum drivers it needs to load. When you reboot in normal mode everything will be back to normal although you might have rearrange your desktop icons to where you want them.
I can't promise it will fix your prob but it has been known to work
Hope it helps,Cheers Paul
