Renaming column label in excel Post a Reply
From: Sphilili on 04/11/2004

How do I rename the colmn label (the one that says, A, B, C, etc.)?

I know I did it years ago but don't remember how and cannot find the answer elsewhere on the net. Thank you. LK

If this were possible, range designations, etc would stop working. What is possible is to establish the first row of your spreadsheet as column labels and then lock them so they do not scroll. From the Excel help, here's how:

Keep row and column labels visible as you scroll
To freeze the top horizontal pane, select the row below where you want the split to appear.
To freeze the left vertical pane, select the column to the right of where you want the split to appear.

To freeze both the upper and left panes, click the cell below and to the right of where you want the split to appear.

On the Window menu, click Freeze Panes.
