I installed on an P4 XP machine, it works and then after receiving some calls it does not hang up the modem, the program goes to a non responding mode. Is this a forever problem

I think your modem is broken. I had that same problem couple times and it took me a while to find that it is the modem problem. Switch to a different modem to see if the problem still there. It should be fixed.
