I am using Windows 98 SE and I had the problem with POGO and getting the error message "action canceled" when loading a game. Here is how to solve it:

If you have Spybot or any type of Spyware loaded, you will have to uninstall it. Also, if you have ever downloaded Kazaa or KazaaLite, then it created a file called "Hosts" located in C:\Windows --- please note -- there were 4 files called "Hosts" on my machine and I had to right click on the "Hosts" file and "open with" and chose Notepad. The file will state:

"# localhost: Needs to stay like this to work
127.0.0.1 localhost
# KaZaA related:
127.0.0.1 desktop.kazaa.com
127.0.0.1 www.altnetp2p.com
127.0.0.1 alpha.kazaa.com
127.0.0.1 shop.kazaa.com

Once you find the correct file, you want to rename it "HostsOLD" and reboot your system. This will solve your problem.

Good luck!!!

I had the same problem. Run the search on your computer for "hosts" file. Kazaalite put a whole list of banner sites to block. when the search completes click on the hosts file that is in the windows/system32/drivers/etc location. It will say windows cannot open this file. Click on select a program from a list. Select Notepad then OK. A bunch of stuff will be in there. What you need to delete is the entire third tier, it says something about crappy, get rid of that and click file then save and everything should work great. I'm back to playing pogo. email me at wickett9878589@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

could be the fact that you've installed one of those service packs of mocrosoft(XP, internet explorer etc.) need to update your quickbooks. check out quickbooks.com

FOUND THE ANSWER!!!!

Search your computer for a file called "hosts." You probably only need one statement in this file which is:

127.0.0.1 localhost

My "hosts." file was located in:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

I had installed KaazaLite which added a bunch of lines to this file which screwed up Pogo.

Hope that helps!

i had the same problem
you have to do a antivirus check
to get rid of infected files and agreements that you probbly have made
without knowing youve done so
