I'm using a Quantom DLT 7000 and Veritas Backup Exec v.7.3.on WinNT4.0(sp6) We backup Drives C:, D:, and E: every night and clean drives about once a week. Every once in a while, the backup will fail with the following error: Storage Device "Quantum 0" reported an error on a request to write date to media. Error Reported: Data Error (Cyclic redundancy check). --TapeAlert Events-- Warning: A severe error occured while reading or writine date. This Job may not have been successfully completed. Critical: The Tape is from a faulty batch or the tape drive is faulty: 1. Use a Good tape to test the drive 2. If the problem persists, please call the tape drive supplier helpline....I've noticed that the error always occurs after the first backup set (D: Drive) has been backed up and then often immediately after the second backup set is beig backed up. I've read the post about needing to "slow down" the tape backup or disabling compression. Any thoughts?
