reinstall the software associated with the vxd file..or..
run REGEDIT and search for the file thats missing then delete the reference or SYSEDIT and do the same in sytem.iniAs far as your 256 colours are concerned, you will probably have to install drivers for your graphics, use either your motherboard drivers disk which will contain those drivers, otherwise download the drivers yourself if you know the make of the graphics card or video card...
