Computer Inputs Additional Characters Into Text

My Dell Inspiron laptop has been adding additional text that I did not type into my Word and Excel files. OS is Windows XP Pro with MS Office XP Pro software. I've run Norton AntiVirus 2002 and no viruses were detected. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ,
This may occur if the speech recognition system is not disabled.
steps to do that are:
Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.
Double-click the Regional and Language Options icon.
Click the Languages tab.
Click Details under Text services and input languages.
Under Installed services, click Speech Recognition, and then click Remove.
Click OK to apply all the changes.
Click the Start button, click Turn off the computer, and then click Restart.
