You need to tell us what OS you are using and at what point does the error come to at in the boot. Does the error come accompanied with another error message or a exception which olds a file or application name...
Try to boot into safe mode or step by step config if you're using win98/ME
If you can get into the OS via safe mode go into system config utility and uncheck the win.ini and system.ini files and reboot the pc
if the pc makes it into windows in normal mode then you need to hunt down the files that are causing the problem via trial and error.
If you cannot get into windows at all you may have a problem with a core windows file.
Try considering a re-installation of windows over itself so as to overwrite any corrupt/missing files and settings.
also look at reseating your memory as well..
