Can someone please tell me how to correct this. Everything on my computer works EXCEPT when I attempt to go to Word. The screen locks and then I have to turn my computer off manually, reboot to get to other programs. Thanks

Thanks Gary. I spent two days, trying all manner of things to cure this problem with MSWord2000 on ME, before I found your fix. Even removing and reloading the application didn't work. Neither did the MS service packs. Deleting the normal.dot cleared the problem immediately. Cheers.

I had this problem (with another version, not ME), used Gary's solution (rename normal.dot to normal.sav) and all is well again. I spent literally hours trying all sorts of reinstalls before I found this.

The problem is your normal.dot file is corrupted. To correct the problem delete all the normal.dot files on you PC (rename them to normal.sav, if you are apprehensive about this) and then start MSWORD. MSWORD will create a new normal.dot file if it cannot find one.

Hey - don't know if this will help, but here's something I ran across that might be relevant.Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 307814 WD: Error Message: System Is Dangerously Low on Resources Might check that out :) Also, if that doesn't work, if you could post the exact error msg - we would look into that more and might find something else. Good luck! Damian
