My sons hp pavilion with windows me suddenly crashed and I get the message"operating system not found".I've no clue whats happened.It was working fine before this.I can't get to the desktop at all.can anyone help with this?

Chances are that the MBR is corrupt, use a Windows startup disk and use the 'A:\FDISK/MBR' funtion and use scandisk to recover damaged cluster,
