 Password problems Post a Reply

I have windows 98 SE - I set it up about 3 years ago.

The system crashed this morning and my original user details seem to have been corrupted.

I do not know my original logon Password - is there any way of interrogating windows to find out what it was?

Thanks
Alastair

Sorry, I didn't see your earlier post. I thought you were having problems with your logon password. If you are having issues with the other passwords then deleting the *.pwl files will not help.

You can usually just delete the *.pwl file. Just boot to Safe Mode and then do a search for *.pwl files. Rename it or just delete it. In Windows 98 the passwords arent super critical. If you are on a network this answer doesn't really apply, but I'm assuming you are just on a stand alone system.
