Fatal Exception OE 0028:C00322EF...crash, sometimes just a jolt and no crash but then puter won't shut down, after which Norton goes through paces to get it started on rebooting. Crash happens sometimes when opening mail or a program...no pattern. Sometimes it just crashes when nothing is going on. Had terrible time last night trying to set up ebay page to sell something. Bugger kept crashing while I was writing. Have W'98 SE AMD Thank you. Lily

Your modem could be sharing IRQ or memory resources with your sound card. Check this in the device manager. Double-click the device and go to the resources tab to find the settings. You can also check for conflicts and all the devices assigned to an IRQ in the System Information tool. You can get to this through PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-SYSTEM TOOLS-SYSTEM INFORMATION.You should try a new driver for your sound card. If this does not work, you can buy a decent sound card OR replacement modem for less than $20. Sometimes this is the easiest way to fix an IRQ conflict. Good luck. Computerpilot

Think I found the culprit. Turned off all my sound and haven't crashed. First, uninstalled sound stuff and it was fine until "You've got mail!" so I deleted the aol .wav files. Will coast with this until I have enough time to find out which part of the sound situation has to be coddled, killed or replaced.
