Previously, I had a problem where I would get the following message when attempting to open excel "Excel.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows"

Based some advice obtained from this forum, I deleted the excel.ini fle which solved the problem.

However, now I have a new problem. The desktop and toolbar shortcuts won't work after I open and close an excel file. They will work when I fist boot up the computer. And they will work even after I open up multiple excel spreadsheets. But once I close excel, shortcuts no longer work and I have to reboot.
