My Dell crashed. I'm running XP Home and when I start up my comp it says:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows Root>\system32\hal.dll. Please install a copy of the above file.
I reconfigured the boot.ini file according to Microsoft's KGB. but the problem is still there. And I don't wanna reinstall windows. Is there another way?

Windows no pode inicio porque el archivo siguiente se extrañando o dañados:

Yo volver a configuró el inicio.archivo de ini de acuerdo con De microsoft KGB. pero la problema se allíquieta. Y Yo no haco wanna reinstalo windows. ¿allí Se camino otro?

There is a high probability that your primary hard drive has failed. If you have a Dimension, it is very likely. Dell recently sent out a bunch of stinky hard drives with the Dimension series desktops that are definitely covered under part replacement warrenty up to one year after purchase (unless you wasted money on the extended warenty).

Windows XP and most times 2K will give this error message after a hard drive has failed or is not configured properly. If you have not recently opened your computer's case, it is likely that the hard drive has failed.
