You can only post from someone if you have permissions in that mailbox. It works in Outlook 2000. It may be by design, I don't know. Someone suggested it's compatibility with Exchange 5.5 and I may experiment with Exchange 2000 to see if that's the problem.

This is a real problem to me as I work in a support desk environment and have to post messages from the support mailbox to Newsgroups. As I found out earlier I get all the replies come direct to me instead of the functional mailbox. I hope it is not a design feature!

I am not completely sure about Outlook 2002. I run Exchange Server 2000 and Outlook 2000.

Might I suggest the most recent updates for Exchange server 5.5. I am not sure of its compatibility with Outlook XP.

I still think this behavior is by default. When you post a message to a newsgroup or public folder, your active directory/global user name should show up as the 'poster'. I would imagine that if you had the capability to change the 'FROM' field, you would be able to post a message from anyone at your organization. That may be bad. Therefore, it could be an issue of security settings in Exchange or a new feature supported with Outlook XP. I would check your security in Exchange server to see exactly what you can do in the public folder in question.

Just some ideas.

Yes we are using Exchange 5.5. The option is available for users in Outlook 2000. Is it something that needs to be set up specifically for users of Outlook 2002?

Are you using Exchange Server? I believe that this is a default behavior for Exchange as it automatically posts the message with your Global Address user name.
