My question is how do I stop it from checking the A drive. This just started happening. It seems to be a default now. The rattle is quite annoying. 200 meg pentium, win 98, 120 meg of ram.

: Another thing I just thought of, if you were just accessing the "A" drive, looking at files or something, windows seems to think you want it to always check it (I don't know what to call it, "stuck on A drive" ???: So go and open your "C" drive and look at files in it (doesn't matter which ones, but open one just for good measure) and see if that fixes it.: Did you install any programs that run in the background? Meaning stuff that adds features to windows, like "ghost" or something? If so, either get rid of it, or see if there is a setting for it to access the floppy.: : My question is how do I stop it from checking the A drive. This just started happening. Check the settings of your virus scanner, it may be set to automatically scan your floppy.
