hello guys

Having som nice Win98 problem

Randomly, approximateley every 5 hours, I get some nice exception fault which goes like 'Fatal exception fault OE at address 0028:C0005257 VXD File
VMM(01) + 000004257' with a nice blue background
(Don't we all like that fancy colour)
More seldom right after this message I get something like 'Front is causing an protection fault in modul KRNL386.EXE at 0001:00003003'. And in this case the system hangs afterwards.
I've read about 5 dozen of articles on the knowledge base and found one that Q209321 meets my problem.
Mentioning the file dblbuff.sys is the problem I could'nt get the version of the file they recommend (Tried it at MSDownloadCenter an on dozen's of ftp's). So I'm looking for a cute person who could take a look at c:\Windows\dblbuff.sys and inform me if it's dated
7/6/98 6:35pm.
Other suggestions about the problem are very appreciated.

Mine just says that, and I get the bluescreen randomly too and I don't know why. Mine can happen 5 minutes after startup so heat can't be the problem, and I don't use any screen savers. The error msg I get doesn't say anything about the dblbluff just that "Kernel32 has caused a general protection fault in windows system KRNL386.exe at 0001:000075aZ"
I'm on a PIII 600 running win98se.
ThanX

I just recently had the same problem that just came out of no where. I have not installed any new hardware or software in some time and was not running a screen saver at all, and my Win 98 just started this for no reason. Heat is not the problem in my PC since I have two cooling fans and my case is currently open. Anyone have any other ideas?

: Mine is dated 1999 (the original date), but it sounds like you may have a hardware problem (heat?) or a program that kicks in and trashes stuff. Get rid of your extras like cool screen savers and whatever.
