: I have a PC equipped with a GenuineIntel, Family 6, Model 6, 535 MHz, Pass 5, Celeron CPU; BIOS is Award Software 01/26/00; I have 128 MB RAM; my OS is Windows98 Ver 4.10 (Build 2222 A ), DOS ver 7.10. I have an 8 GB HD which has still 5 GB free. : In trying to run Windows Media Player7, which I have just downloaded, I immediately get a crash and twice a blue screen appears notifying an irreverisble fault (0E at 0028:C144xxxx of VXD APIX(01) + 0000xxxx), then a window appear saying that the program has performed an invalid operation and will be terminated, reporting the following details: : "WMPLAYER has caused an invalid page fault in the : module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff88396. : Registers : EAX=c00309c4 CS=017f EIP=bff88396 EFLGS=00010216 : EBX=0062ffec SS=0187 ESP=0052ff3c EBP=005300b4 : ECX=00000000 DS=0187 ESI=00000000 FS=1257 : EDX=bff76855 ES=0187 EDI=bff79060 GS=0000 : Byte at CS:EIP: address : 53 56 57 8b 75 10 8b 38 33 db 85 f6 75 2d 8d b5"; : it is then impossible to close the window unless I reboot the PC, although everything else seems to work all right. It is odd that a similar crash used to occur when I had installed the "NERO" program for burning CDs. As I could not solve the crash, I had to disinstall Nero and buy another program ("WinOnCD" by CeQuadrat), which now works perfectly. Is there a bug in the WMPlayer program? or is there a way around this problem?
