Operating system Windows ME, MS Word 2000
On startup of word error message occurs.
Then MS Word is shutdown. Uninstalling word and reinstallation does not correct issue.
use windows ME file search feature and search for
all occurrances of normal.dot you may also find
a ~ormal.dot or something similar when you search
delete all occurances of normal.dot and restart word
it should start ok. This appears to be caused by
a corruption of the normal.dot template file. On the system I had the problem with, the user had tried to open an attachment from its location on a hotmail account instead of downloading it first to their system and opening it from the local machine. Hope this helps
