The Eek virus infects your Master Boot Record of your hard disk or any floppies that you may have. It is possible that the virus is on one of your floppy disk boot records and you would never know by running a simple scan. If you are running more than one operating system on your old WIN3.1 386, then you may have permanant damage that would require a reinstall of both operating systems.
Follow the instructions on this website (find another computer to work with to download this file):
http://service2.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/docid/2000092511434413
...and download the file it has a link to. This will set up a boot disk for Norton that should detect the virus at startup. It runs in DOS.
If the boot disk you create will not run in the older version of DOS, then find a computer that is running Windows 95 or 98 and create a startup disk. Use the startup disk on your 386 for bootup, then swith floppies and run the EXE file on the Boot disk you created previously from the download to remove the virus.
Hope this helps. If all else fails, you can REFORMAT (not just reinstall 3.1) your hard drive, and this will delete the virus. Please keep in mind that this virus WILL infect every floppy disk you enter into your computer until you remove it.
Post back if you have any problems.
