I have been receiving the "MAPI was unable to loand the information service PSTPRX.DLL" message when trying to start Outlook 2002. (I'm using Windows 2000.) I went to the Microsoft site and ran their Update program which insured that I have SP3 for Office XP, since that's the version of Office XP I had installed. The problem persists. Then I tried the simple solution of deleting all the Mail profiles and creating a new one. That eliminates that problem and allows Outlook to start and then I can receive email, but can't send it. The solution to that is that I need to specify a differnet port and check a box indicating that for outgoing mail, my server requires authentication. These settings are found on the Advanced settings of the Internet E-mail Settings form that I get to using Tools/E-mail accounts from Outlook (or get to via the Control Panel/Mail icon). The problem is, that the E-mail Accounts display where I go to edit Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) does not display the "More" button to get the the Advanced tab. The bottom and right hand sides of this form are cut off, and there is no way to enlarge the form to get to them. Has anyone else experienced this, and do you know of a solution? Thanks.

I fixed my missing pstprx.dll by going to CONTROLE PANEL, MAIL, SHOW PROFILE, then I REMOVED all the Profiles. I then closed all the control panel windows and went back to open OUTLOOK and it prompted me to create a Mail Profile. Its as easy as creating a name and setting up my mail account. Mine worked fine after that. I had already tried every update and reinstall, wasted a lot of time. Hope it works for you.

Yes, as stated above, you need to recreate your mailbox - it worked for me. See this link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293058

If you get the following error message "Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The .DLL file for the information service could not be found. MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service pack is correctly installed and configured." I had to install XP service pack 3. Now close Outlook and right click on the Outlook icon on your desktop. Choose Properties> Show Profiles> In the Always use this profile box select Default Outlook Settings from the drop down list or if you do not have Default Outlook Settings option, choose York IMAP service. To my case I created my profile when I was installing my pocket PC so this corrupted with the other one. So select always use this profile (the one you created). This should solve the problem…if not check your registry key to see if it is correct Start>run> regedit> Hkey_local_machine/software/micrososft_office/9.0/outlook/setup right click mailsupport should have internetmail-0 or workgroup 1 But do not change anything on key registry if you don’t know what you are doing. If those numbers are not correct try to look for solution from there. Changing anything on key registry might let you reinstall the OS again and you will loose all your data in your hard drive

Hi,I've looking for this object too (2 h). If You check out the Microsoft site You will find the answer: support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q293/0/58.ASP This solution works for Office2K. What You have to do? 1. Change the Mail Support Configuration to "Corporate Worgroup" in Outlook (Tools -> Options -> Mail Services tab. If You already have this selection then select the Internet Only and then select the CW. 2. After this define a Microsoft Fax service : Tools -> Services -> Add -> Microsoft Fax. Set up the service (most important is the modem) After this You don't receive that f...ing error because the Outlook install the file. You just have to set up properly Your Fax server and anything will be working just fine.
