Dear Lori,On receiving the messages from them you are able to block or even warn them. This will scare them into not flooding you anymore.
Also, you can block those IP addresses if you have a firewall which is not really a good idea as certain IP change.
Thank you

: I am a 31 year old single mother of 2, I rarely get out so I LOVE to chat with people on-line. I have recently had a problem with pranksters flooding my computer with Instant Messages (IM). I am NOT looking to do it back. All I am looking for is a way to scare them into not doing it. Can you tell me a way to identify who is sending me these floods. It crashes my new computer. I just want to let them know that it is POSSIBLE to report the abuse if not stopped. I really would appriciate some help. I am able to see the IP address that are listening to me but thats all I can do.
: Thanks in advance,
: Lori
