What does "PCI READ CONFIGURATION FAILURE" mean? The message comes up as I'm booting a computer from a Windows 98 Boot Disk. The computer is a Packard Bell 486 with a 66 Mhz processor. NO, I DID NOT BUY A PACKARD BELL COMPUTER. I'VE HEARD THE HORROR STORIES IT WAS GIVEN TO ME!!!

You can not load Win 95/98/me/2000/xp on a 486 computer
because when you select from the boot menu (start computer with cdrom support)the computer will look on the mainboard fore the ribbon cabble
But on a 486 computer it is connected on the soundcard
what you have to do is find the driver for your cdrom when you found that you all should be ok

if you have a reply email Dfial2002@yahoo.com
