PLUG IN DID NOT INITIALIZE PROPERLY..... Post a Reply
From: DAWN on 01/16/2002
I'VE BEEN TRYING TO UPGRADE MY BROWSER. I CURRENTLY HAVE MSIE 5.0. I'M TRYING TO UPGRADE TO 5.5 OR 6.0, I HAVE ALSO TRIED UPDATING MY MICROSOFT LIBRARY. BUT WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DO SO..I GET THE MESSAGE THAT THERE IS A PLUN IN ERROR...WHICH READS: PLUGIN DID NOT INITIALIZE PROPERLY.. AND THEN A 2ND MESSAGE FOLLOWING WHICH READS: THE PLUGIN WAS FOUND BUT AN ERROR IN THE PLUGIN HAS OCCURED..
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS AND HOW I CAN FIX IT? I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT MY BROWSER IS OLD AND NEEDS TO BE UPDATED TO AVOID OTHER PROBLEMS THAT I'VE BEEN EXPERIANCING. BUT THIS PLUGIN ERROR IS COMPLICATING THINGS EVEN MORE! THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

: I find "NoCrash" by plugging the error message into the Google search engine. I also found this solution, which is much safer and easier than going into the Registry files and it worked!

: A. While we are not sure what causes this problem, there is a way to work around it. One solution is to download the pdf file and save it locally.

: To save the pdf locally, press the shift key and while still pressed, click on the pdf file. Instead of Acrobat Reader starting, you'll see the "save" dialog box appear. You can now save the pdf file and then open it in Acrobat Reader.

: Note: I right-clicked on the link to the pdf file and then did a "save as".

Good afternoon Wwen:

I just tried this, and now need to restore the "Extension" back to the Registry from the Desktop.

Please advise.

Thanks,

John

: Okay after a week and half of trying stuff form Microsoft support I finally got the answer that worked. This is what i did. One hint when looking through the files on the registry you have to expand the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE one to software then microsoft then plugins then you can save it. Hope this helps.

: Remove the Extension key in the registry.
