New hard drive system turns off on xp installation Post a Reply
From: Kim on 01/01/2009
Hi you guys I have a Sony PCG v505dx laptop. It runs on Windows Xp. I currently bought a new IDE hard drive for it since I thought the old one needed some fixing. And it was already acting edgy. And sometimes the operating system could not found. When I replaced the hard drive while I was in LA it seemed to be running FINE. The hard drive was formatting the new unpartitioned space. But the formatting was stopped since my laptop ran out of battery and I did not bring my charger (silly really). When I got to my house I tried reinstalling windows again but this time my system suddenly turned off when it got to either formatting or the part where its telling me which to format (partitioned or unpartioned space). (Now the Unpartitioned space is ----> Partitioned) I don't know what else to do. I have no idea what the cause is. Any help is appreciated (:

my old hard drive was 60 gb
me new one however is 160 gb
I was wondering if that has anything to do with my problem?
