Thermal Error automatic shutdown Post a Reply
From: Gayle on 08/02/2008
So, I decided to reformat my hard drives to have a lot more space and ram so I can edit my videos. I replaced it with a 250 GB Hard Drive and
at first during reformatting it would shut itself down. I decided to pull out two memory sticks (I have four that total up to 1GB of Ram) and I changed the power supply. Thankfully the reformat worked. Now, the problem is after a couple hours or so my computer shuts itself down.
There was a thermal error apparently, and I type F1 and it's finee. However after a while it does it again and when I type F1 again it quickly shuts off so I can't even get to my desktop.I don't know what to do now, I really don't want to buy a new computer and I googled this problem and A LOT of Dell computers experience this. Also, I've always gotten a fan failure error for the past 2 years of having this computer that's because dell uses special fans apparently? and we use a different one and that's why I get that error (or at least that's what my dad suggests).

Please help! I'm in desperate need hopefully that was enough information.

Ignore the trials signs it's from Everest.
