From: Alex on 06/23/2004
I had a problem with my laptop which i am hoping i have now solved. To do this i switched to selective startup by using 'run' - msconfig. now i have solved the problem i want to switch back to normal startup but i cant open the 'start' menu to go to 'run'. is there another way to access 'run' or to change back? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Alex.

Im guessing you want something to startup when turning your computer on..Do NOT use "msconfig" to disable services, type "services.msc" in the Run box instead! The reason is because with msconfig and Hardware Profiles, you can disable services that may be vital to boot your system. With the management console (services.msc) you cannot. Also, msconfig, while unchecking the box, is disabling the service.

The "Disable All" button also scares me. It should not even be there as no reason exists to justify disabling "everything." Hope this helps.
