Hi, i've been having problems with windows me. When i'm transferring large files on my pc or scanning it intesivley i get a blue screen after a minute or so with a vcache error. Can anyone help because i've formatted my c drive and installed everything again with the latest drivers but still the problem persists. I've even reset my bios settings to default (which has always worked before). I recently managed to by luck scan my hard drive (after several tries) for viruses but i've found none. The exact message I get on the bluescreen is:
filename: vcache(01) + 00000E4D error: 0E: 0028 : C00 4E4E9
This happens like for example when i'm transferring large files across my hardisk or through my network. It usually happens when i'm acessing my hard drive rapidly. I haven't recently added any RAM (i've had it for over a year now).
The thing i'm confused about is that i frequently play games on my PC for long periods yet it doesn't crash then. I'm not sure if is my hardware or software.
My PC specs are:
1.4 ghz Athlon Thunderbird
512 mb RAM
Geforce 256 graphics
ASUS motherboard (not sure exact name)
Please help because its really annoying and my only option now is to upgrade both my software and hardware which isn't good news.
