My computer logs off when screensaver starts Post a Reply
From: Bob on 03/12/2004
I have an IBM Model 2276, OS is XP Pro, Intel Pentium III 734 Mhz 320MB of Ram.

My system has been running fine for months then in the last several days I set up access to my computer through Remote Desktop. I have a password to logoff my computer. Since I have set up Remote Desktop 2 days ago even when I am home in front of my computer whenever the screensaver starts it takes me back to the "Welcome" screen and requires that I enter my password to get back to my desktop.

I dont actually know if remote desktop sarted this problem but the only other new thing that I did on my pc in the last 2 days other than set up remote desktop was do a windows update and download Microsoft .Net framework version 1.1.

PLEASE help

Ging--- you don't have to log into XP pro. It's recommended- but you definitely don'thave to. I have my 3 personal computers at this apartment- and the only one I log into is the one that I take to the university with me- the other 2 just boot right to everything.
And Pro doesn't have any problems with it--- unless you try it as an upgrade. It's not a good idea to UPGRADE to pro. Just back your stuff up and reformat.

GO inot diusplay properties (right click on desktop) then screensaver tab. Uncheck the box that says 'on resume, show welcome screen'. that should sort it out for ya.

I would recommend not running a screensaver at all. XP Pro always has to be logged into.

I have 6 of these machines with a Pentium III 750 CPU. I have had nothing but trouble out of them since I loaded XP Pro.
