extremely instable system, crashes every 10-15min, Post a Reply
From: Micael on 12/07/2003
This started from the beginning of my computers life, in spring this year I bought this computer by parts and when I tried to boot the first time and install windows it crashed with different bluescreens all the time at different places in the installation process. I tried about 50times before I could install windows completely. After that it has been instable system. It crashes every 10-15min, it happens more often when I play games like morrowind and direct if I play CCGenerals, I thought the problem could be the graphicscard but I tried with a friends and had the same problem with that. The strange thing is that it happens even when I have left the computer and its just windows running, it tends to reboot.

This is my system:
SWEEXXEXS (Sweex Xenon XS Miditower 300W ATX (AMD&P4 OK))
GIGSINXP (GIGABYTE SINXP-1394 SIS655 4DDR-DIMM 1AGP8x 5PCI SATA RAID Audio
GB-LAN Socket478 ATX)
P4S478N53-26R (Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2.66GHz 512Kb 533MHz Boxed (with cpu-cooler!) Socket 478)
512DDR400 (Standard 512Mb PC3200/DDR400 DDR 184pin 400MHz (AMD OK))
180GXP180 (IBM Deskstar 180GXP 180Gb 7200rpm 8Mb UDMA100 IDE) ASVE616R (ASUS DVD-E616 DVD 16X/48x CD Retail intern IDE)
ASV9280TD (ASUS V9280TD GeForce4 Ti4200-8X 128MB DDR TV-out DVI Retail AGP)
CREAUDPLB (Creative SoundBlaster Audigy Player Firewire bulk PCI)
SAM957DF (Samsung 957DF 19")
KTWLKBMB (Keytronic Wireless RF Multimedia Keyboard + Mouse Black PS/2)

Do someone of you know if there is any incompabiliti problem I got or is perhaps the motherbord corrupt?
Please tell me if you know what to do, or try!
I got these problems signatures in windows:

I just started to get the same problem!
After using the same comp and OS for over 4 months! without any problems!

Might I have a virus! the problem is that the comp crashes before I get a chance to virus scan it.

like this message is rushed before an other crash occurs!

H.E.L.P!

Ive tried to change my powersupply from 300W to 500W and my computer have never been so nice to me as after the change. I were able to have it running all trough the night, but in the next morning the problems started again, doesnt seem like this were the problem.?

However does any of you know what configurations that "could" lead to an instable system, which is the most common configs?

I've had the same issue with my computer except I dont get error messages. My computer just reboots on its own. I have the same SINXP motherboard and am RMAing it back. I truely believe its is a problem with on board RAID. The ITE chip set is unstable. Ive deduced this because I've tried almost everything from changing memory to CPU to Low lvl format and more. I exetremely encourage to RMA your motherboard.

I have had two computers where a periodic problem accurred. A specific time passes and you get a failure message. You shut down and a while later a different failure message pops up. This was indicative of an overheating problem, where a certain temperature is reached and the problem starts. When you shut down and restart, the computer is OK for a while until it heats to a certain temperature. In the first case I found that the chip fan was not running. When I changed it, the problems stopped. A couple of years later on a later computer a similar problem occurred. In that case, I found that the housing fan was not plugged in by the builder. Later I had more problems and found that the computer would only operate with the cover pulled back to create an air gap of about 1 inch. The computer then worked fine. Apparently the horizontal cabinet had tiny slots to vent the cabinet. That was fine for chips from 7 or 8 years ago, before chip fans, but the cabinet, board and chip he was using in that cabinet could not provide sufficient air to cool the chip, until the cabinet was opened. I am sure you have looked at these kinds of things, but I thought it might lead to some other ideas.
