"The system is dangerously low in resources.. Post a Reply
From: Rob on 12/03/2003
Howdy all,

Running W98SE, MSW97 and of course a bunch of other stuff. Get the blue screen of death with this message: "The system is dangerously low in resources..." with the suggestion to terminate whatever application is running. Also browser screen will sometimes become unstable, flickering up and down, so to speak. Exiting IE and reopening usually solves that problem. Also get periodic "Fatal Execption" messages in Eudora. Running Norton with Nimda protection. Cannot rename normal.dot in MSW97. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi, rob
the error which u are facing(The system is dangerously low in resources) is the prob of windows 98.
same prob will occure if u switch to windows ME.
Better u switch to windows 2000 or windows XP.
for your error there is no solution at micosoft end.
they also suggest to change your os and switch windows 2000 or windows XP.
this error is eliminated in windows 2000 and windows XP.

check also that you don't have too many progs running at start up - you can run start up with less than five applications running - type msconfig (in run...) to check and alter settings

get a freeware memory manager - have a look at download.com for them -there are many - some work better than others but it's good to get one which displays your current system resources in the tray - get one that allows you to clear memory manually when needed - my choice is memory boost pro (shareware)
