i just installed XP on my new PC..
the motherboard is a Shuttle AV49N with a Celeron 2.4 GHz on it..
the computer behaves in a really strange way.. it gives sometime strange error messages or boot-up when installing something..
i also had problems installing XP.. it crashed few times.. and only after maybe 7 or more times it worked..

Since it's a new set up, did you by any chance buy the "on sale" RAM?
On processors above 2Ghz you should be using something like PC3600 DDR RAM, otherwise you get exactly what you are describing, random crashes all over the place. Ask whoever sold you the motherboard.
Also, try turning down the graphics acceleration and see how that goes.

yeah i have the same problem with my computer. I just installed an AV49N motherboard (Shuttle) pentium 4 1.8. Games always crach on it, and the internet usually errors out. It even reboots itself when I'm in the middle of something. If you have any ideas...im up for. And it's not overheating, been there done that. Please help!

I have just receieved this motherboard. I have a 2.6 pent 4. I have windows XP. If you look in your shuttle motherboard instuction manuel, you'll find that it says "All drivers are designed *for basically all other windows excluding XP*. Suggest you and I start looking for XP drivers for this motherboard. I can't believe shuttle did'nt design it for home use(not including XP). If you want to get in contact, my email is spicyentice4u@hotmail.com
