Unable to load HTTP gif image in new window Post a Reply
From: Joanne on 08/06/2003
I am using Windows 98SE. Suddenly, I can't get links within a web site to load in a new window. For example, on WheresGeorge, there is a red check mark to click on to see a members profile. When I right click it, I see its HyperText Transfer Protocol and a gif image. I was always able to access the profiles with no problem, and now they won't load. The new window pops up, but the "hour glass" just keeps going and going, never loading the profile. This has the Techies at WheresGeorge stumped. The same thing happens on Pogo games, when I click to see a players profile. Do you have any clue whats causing this?? I updated my IE6, and I just had AOL Broadband installed, but i was having the same problem for a few days before that, when I had AOL dial-up, so I don't think it has anything to do with the Broadband. I'd appreciate any ideas you have.

I did just that, Kirk, and WheresGeorge works perfectly in Mozilla. When I learn my way around Mozilla, I might just make it my default browser. Thank you so much for the advice.

Go download Mozilla, it's free, then only use that and life will be way happier.
