monitor problem in Windows 98 Post a Reply
From: albert on 05/05/2003
Hello,

I am not sure if this is a Windows or a hardware problem.

What happens is that from time to time, the monitor will work bad. The screen shows a series of lines at the top and freezes (only at the top). The system still works.

It is hard to explain and I can not get a screen print.

I scanned for viruses with no results.

I used Aida to make a report and found nothing.

Any ideas?. Where should I look for problems?.

Thanks

Thanks

Hi, I am repeating because it went to the wrong place

I did this: I set the refresh rate to 60 using the same monitor.

It works much better. Although, I think this rate is harder to the eyes.

So as you said it is the monitor. Is there any way to repair it or is it just the tube that went too old?.

Thanks a lot

Ok

Firstly i would rule out the system by trying another monitor. Its probably the monitor and not the system. Some times the setting controls cause some problems with screen displays, when you turn or operate these contols the screen becomes distorted...

Try another monitor and a different refresh rate on the monitor...see how you get on...
