 no scandisc after improper shutdown Post a Reply

i have duron 1300 on win98se.for no apparent reason i have lost my scandisc when i reboot the system after improper shutdown.scandisc is there and working in msdos mode and through manual execution in windows.i have tried running my windows set up disc several times with no success in rectifying this problem.i do not want to format my hard disc to see if this works as i would lose a lot of software.COULD ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME.davowoodsy@ntlworld.com

this is a reply to my own question.the answer to the problem is that scandisk was disabled in MSCONFIG.i am unaware how this happened.the solution is to go to START then RUN.type in Msconfig in command line and then OK.click advanced and uncheck the box next to DISABLE SCANDISC AFTER BAD SHUTDOWN.it was as simple as that.this could be reversed if you were sick of scandisk jumping in on boot up.
