hit and miss start-up. mouse/keyboard locks up. Post a Reply
From: Rita on 04/10/2003
Installed a new CD-RW DVD drive several weeks ago. Also removed start-up icons to defrag my computer to shut down programs running in the background. Restored most of the icons in the start up tray when mouse and keyboard would not respond after start up. Must continually restart computer until num locks stays on so I can use the mouse and keyboard. Now computer will go to blue screen and error message: 0E : 0197 : BFF8E64B. So I have to keep shutting down and restarting. Can anyone shed some light on my problem. Computer will be okay for several hours of use and then freezes and crashes Used Norton to fix errors but problems still occur.

Install this, it has free office software and doesn't crash even if you leave it up 24/7 for months. It acts just like windows, icons and all.

Just a comment to let you know I am trashing my Windows ME in a couple weeks and replacing with XP and am ashamed to admit I have it. Until then I have things to do so looking for a fix. I am experiencing the same thing. I think it is a combo of ME and Word 2000 because I open Word and freeze up with the same error message. I am searching Microsofts knowledge database and ask.jeeves but have not come up with a fix yet. Will let you know if I do.

I have the same problem. I don't know why, but it is the unique problem that I have, and I don't know how can I fix it. The Computer runs ok, but sometime a I receive this blue screen and I have to restart the computer!.Shit!. I have the latest drivers of all my components and all the updates of the Windows ME!!!. I don't know what more can I do.

My hardware is:

Motherboard ECS K7s5a v3.1 (with Duron 800MHz)
3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 Agp
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Player

Somebody knows something?.

Thanks!.
