I ALSO HAVE WINDOWS XP ON MY LAP TOP. i AM EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS, BUT NONE OF THE SUGGESTED IDEAS ABOVE HAVE WORKED. bEFORE LAST WEEK I COULD GO ONTO THE SITES I WANTED TO BUT I CAME HOMW AND MOVED MY LAP TOP AND EVER SINCE THEN I CANT GET INTO CERTAIN PROGRAMMES SUCH AS THECHARMEDONES.COM OR CERTAIN HOUSE PAGES (NOT THE WHOLE SITE - ONLY PAGES) ANY IDEAS? iT SAYS ITS SEARCHING BUT THEN IT COMES UP EITHER SAYING RESTRCTED (NO IDEA HOW IT WOULD BE) PAGE NOT AVALIABLE OR THE SAME AS PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOVE.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS CAN THEY EITHER POST IT OR EMAIL ME AT meganrandell@yahoo.co.uk CHEERS

my computer wont let me go on hotmail either...It has a 'Cannot find server' page and on certain websites a window pops up saying 'Your current security settings prohibit running activeX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.' i also have windows XP home edition.

Also, a second thought:
Check your video acceleration settings: go to:
Display [Control Panel], select Settings Tab, Advanced Button, Perfomance Tab. Move slider to the left to "None". If your problems clear up, you can incrementally move the slider back to the right until similar problems appear, then back off one notch.
Sometimes that helps - poor old IE cant keep up with the video acceleration, and just gives up - kinda.
An associated symptom is "Mouse Droppings" left behind as your mouse cursor moves about - video accel. set too high, and screen doesn't get the time to update correctly.
