video card faulty Post a Reply
From: Sammy on 03/15/2003
My tnt2 video card is 2 and a half years old. The fan came off and I glue it back. Now the display on screen has grey lines behind text. Can I continue using the card until it dies? Will this cause damage to the motherboard?

Nvidia TNT 2 32MB are cheap enough to buy these days, don't let the card cause problems to your system, buy a new one,

I wouldn't trust it. How old is your monitor? Some older ones wil fail if the video card pushes the too hard (high refresh rates for long periods - my old TNT killed my first monitor, an old 15in Acer).Do you play ant 3d games? What do the run/look like? Ant sign of artifacts (strange/weird colours lrft on screen after diplaying graphics is a sign of a faulty/dying/overheating video card.
If your monitor is fairly new, I'd be getting a new card, the Geforce2 or 4 mx series of cards are around the same price as a new TNT2, which is a bonus. Good luck
