horizontal lines behind text problem Post a Reply
From: jimi on 03/09/2003
My PC developed horizontal grey lines behind text and graphics on my monitor display yesterday. According to what I read on message boards, the problem lies with my tnt2 m64 video card, which needs to be replaced. When I opened up the pc and touched the fan on the video card, it was real hot. If I continue using the card until it no longer works, will this affect the motherboard. Other than the horizontal grey lines, everything works fine.

I've read the posts...
I have the same problem (horizontal grey lines and see through windows)with an nVIDIA GeForce DDR 32Mb card (about three years old). I have a ten year old machine with an ATI card and no problems. Looks like it will be ATI next time.

nVIDIA should just be detonated!

Its a known fact that graphics cards do get hot, the heat issue could be a factor along with corrupted driver files and an aging video card.

Before you condem the card try these solutions first.

1.Improve the cooling of the card with an extra fan that is situated in the PCI card area. The fan is designed to be screwed into the PCI card attachment area so it will face paralell to the video card hand help to keep it cool.

2. Another thing is to reload the drivers for the card, get new ones from www.video-drivers.com, you will probably have to register freely at this site before you download...
