Scanner recognition problelm Post a Reply
From: Jake on 10/17/2002
I have a Primax Colorado 600p scanner which I installed about 2 yrs ago and it was working fine, but for some reason I disconnected it and just recently plugged it back in and installed the software. The software seems to be working ok, but when I booted up the computer the scanner was not recognized and is not showing in Device Manager and when I try install new hardware (win98-1st edition)it is not seen so I cannot install the hardware.I tried changing the mode in CMOS to epp from Bilevel and it still did not work.I unplugged the cable for the printer and uninstalled the printer and plugged the cable in with just the scanner and all it does is tell me that it has found the printer and reinstalls it.I also tried changing the 12 volt adapter but still no good. The scanner scans back and forth with the light on but the page comes out black with no image of what is being scanned.
I have a Packard Bell Multimedia computer with 20 gig hard drive and 256 megs of ram. The printer is Canon BJ 200e and is installed on LPT 1. Can anyone give me an idea of how I might get the scanner to be recognized. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times. Thank's for any advice you might be able to offer.

whack your Univer host controllers and usb root hubs and everything else under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category if your USB device is not being recognized

I just wiped out my WinME PC for other reasons. Upon restoring from the restore CDs everything that was wrong is fixed. However, like you I installed the 600p software and the scanner works but the scans are all black. I went to www.primax.nl and downloaded an updated driver and am about to install it but I suspect it is not a hardware issue. If you have antivirus software running (doesn't everyone) you should disble it first. It could interfer with the process. I will post again if this driver does the trick.
Good luck.

probaly there is some hard ware problems in your scanner. Try it out on other PC and if still dosen not recogonise it means that you have the scanner hardware problem.
