pci USB2 card Crashes Epson 1660 photo software,h Post a Reply
From: nigel on 02/17/2003

System details.
Athlon xp1700+, shuttle mk32n m/board,1024mbDDR, ATI radeon 9000pro
graphics,trust 5.1 optical sound card(pci).USB1 onboard.

Have recently bought Epson Perfection 1660 Photo Scanner. All drivers
and Smart panel work perfectly using USB onboard.
XP pro, tells me that I have high speed USB 2 device plugged into USB1
and will be slow etc.

so I buy an Acer Usb2 pci card.I turn off onboard usb, install drivers, power down, install card,Power up,XP detects new hardwear ETC.I then install drivers for each port on the card, I.E.scanner,
Printer,Adsl modem.

The scanner software crashes XP.cannot detect scanner.

IS THE CARD USELESS,OR IS MY MAINBOARD NOT UP TO RUNNING IT.

OR IS IT JUST COMPATABILITY WITH THE HARDWEAR/SOFTWEAR.
No conflicts found in X.P. Epson help line cant help, they say it is beyond there boundaries and need to pass it on to their boffins.
10 weeks later I've heard nowt,Anyone out there got any Thoughts.

Yours Hopefully

Nigel.
