Blue Screen: 0E:018F:BFF8E64B Post a Reply
From: Jonathan on 01/22/2003
I get this blue screen every time I try to run DK Earth Quest.
It's an older game made for Win 95, and requires Quicktime.
I am running Win ME, the latest free version of Quicktime and a Matrox Millenium G400 gfx card.
Having searched the BB, I notice the Matrox could be the culprit, so I have installed their latest driver, and even flash updated the Matrox BIOS.
The version of Quicktime that comes with the software doesn't make any difference either.
I've tried installing the software in Safe Mode, and have CTRL-ALT-DEL'd everything running, and then tried a fresh install.
None of this helps.
Any other help much appreciated.
Do I need to update the Motherboard BIOS?
It's an Asus A7V266 (not too old)
DK tech support have been all but useless, suggesting that I turn off any AntiVirus before I install it...usual nonsense standard tech support!

No solutions I'm afraid.

I've been getting the BSOD (blue screen of death) more frequently recently on my Compaq Presario Windows Me desktop.
Today I got 0E : 018F : BFF8E64B; BSOD.
After restarting, Outlook Express has gone back to its virgin state, with just the welcome message that is displayed to a new user..........

I got a similar BSOD when I tried to install an external USB hard drive with the message VxD dynamic link call: NTMAPHLP(02) + 00000002 to 004F service 1.

Aaaaaaaggghhhhhh!!

Can anyone help?

hmm... i get the exact same screen error codes, but when trying to get on the Internet with IE 6.0 on WinMe. No Matrox card (ATI 7500), no game here. The problem appeared only today. All was fine before. Maybe due to the codec pack I installed today ?

hope it can help you by giving some ideas of thinking...

Make sure that if you recently upgraded to the Matrox 400 that all previous drivers from the older card have been removed.

If this is not the case, I would attempt to lower the color bit size/graphic acceleration/resolution to see if this has a varing effect on the error message. This should be attempted within the game first, then in Windows if the game setting changes do not work.

The problem is definitely associated with your video card. Matrox should be able to help you out with it.

Downgrading is really not an option for the sake of one game.
Does anybody else know of any other workarounds or fixes?

Downgrade your system. Dual boot if you have to, use win 95 for a win 95 game.
