that a new hardware installation is more than likely the cause of it and that i should try and that i should disconnect and or uninstall my most resontly installed hardware.well i've tried that and it dosen't help at all.what else could it be?

Bad Memory? If the check is not finishing, I think you can accurately diagnose the memory as bad. I would get your memory tested at a local computer store.

First of all if the system is rebooting while count you ram then there is a problem with hardware not windows xp (maybe overheating which can cause your computer not to boot into windows xp). After u resolve the rebooting before it gets to xp and it still does it, boot off of your windows xp cdrom and select option r for repair the type this as chkdsk /p /r this usually fixes this problem if u have any other questions email me at sjkeith77@hotmail.com

I too am having the same problem, I have just recieved the SP1 from Microsoft, I have read the reports on it, I think you and I have the same issue. If you install it, supposedly are issues will be answered. If that doesn't work. Then cold boot your computer....Turn it off and wait for a minute or two....(textbook says 30 seconds....but wait longer). Then when it comes to the error of how to start windows....start it normally. My computer is so used to it now, it doesn't even give me the prompting anymore!

I hope this helps.
